Beauty Queen

They left when I was one,

And you were three,

Addicted to drugs having a baby wasn't a big enough high,

You see,

They left us to fight off the invisible monsters, alone,

No night light.

Or bedtime story could save us now,

Fear drowned us from head to toe,

With each threshold we entered our breathes stopped,

After a while we stopped counting,

Who’s counting.

1,2,3,4,5,6.........

But now I'm sixteen,

And your a beauty queen,

Old enough to be free,

And together we survived,

Bodies adored with tattoos,

Hair colored vibrant,

But now everyone's finally looking at me,

And they’re wanting the beauty queen.
