Because...

Your voice
I like to hear
Because when you’re near
I feel like I’m here

It shouldn’t be this way.
I’m here because I live
Not because your words
The way you lie…
Make the bad disappear.

Oh, how lost I am
I love you
because I hate myself.
I can’t be without you
because I can’t live with myself.

I’m alive
Not because your feelings
Or my feelings
Are amiss
I’m not alive to fix you
or to show you what you’ve missed.

You’ve used me
And I let you
Because…I loved you?
No.
I despised myself.
I abused myself.

I live for me
And I’d like to be
Someone who must never plea
For anyone’s love
Other than my own.
