Because I Am

It seems like everyday we are told to chase after what we believe in,

what we dream about, and to keep on going,

but the system is so corrupted, only the strong really and truly fit in.

Don't get me wrong, there are those special cases, where the fortunate are born into blessings,

that they don't have to put up with, what the majority of us are wrestling.

I may not have too much, but I'm not complaining,

because in the end, it is all just a system, that we are all playing.

They say that we are free, that we are lucky.

I say, we are only as free as they let us be,

because in the end it is all just planned for me.

They encourage us to be different, yet at the same time not to be.

All I know is that if it's ball they want to play, I'll be the referee.

Because I will not stand for my surroundings to define me,

Because I will advance just like they told me i would be.

Because I will not be afraid to dream,

Because I am, and always will be.
