Because I Can

Why do I write when almost every thought has already been written? Because I can If my ancestors had this privilege they would take it in a heart beat And we have so much access and let it fall at our feet I've been given a free education to do so So I write because it means I've been given a power to let my feelings go My people who work in fields and farms also have voices But that's all they can be because of their choices I will make them all proud by showing them all that I can do And I hope as I rise, they will grow with me too
