Because I Love Her

In the morning I am greeted

Asked about my rest

I respond with a, "Yes I slept well"

Mom is assured I'm at my best.

A day is typically neutral

I am given space to think and breathe

But if I have any questions

I can always turn to her with ease.

Not all days are truly tranquil

Some have discord and error

But a compromise is made

We unite in the midst of terror.

Together we are a stronghold

In a field of bullets and mines

To take this for granted

Would be a terrible, horrendous crime.

She stretches arms full of solace

To eradicate any qualms

She says "It will be okay"

As her hands cradle my palms.

I tell her of my goals and dreams

She responds with guidance and aid

I am told to do what I love

Not a better statement could have been made.

She then stares at the clock

She sees there's not much time left

A mother bird has to know

When her baby should leave the nest.

She starts to loosen her grasp

And I begin to clumsily soar

She anxiously roots me on

I receive love evermore.

It's this bond I will cherish

As long as space and time persists

I will give my all because I love her

Nothing finer could ever exist.
