Because I Love Me

Because I loved you

I let you treat me that way

Because I loved you

You knew that I would stay

Because I loved you

I thought that your love would never sway

Because I loved you

I became a worthless lump of clay

Molded only by you

And what you would say

Because I loved you

I was blind to how I was becoming your prey

Because I loved you

I didn't care that you didn't get me anything for my birthday

Because I loved you

I didn't realize it would be me you would betray

But

Because I loved ME

I let you go, while I turned and walked away
