Because I Love ME

There is a fine line

between right,

and wrong.

You knew the

difference,

but chose to ignore.

You were jealous,

you did not care.

You pulled me close,

you would not let go.

I asked you to stop,

you just laughed.

You kept kissing me,

“I love you.”

And,

because you loved me,

you would not listen.

You never listened.

If you loved me

that much,

you would have

stopped.

I left you,

but why?

“Because I love you.”

The phrase that kept me,

no longer worked.

Because I love me,

so much more

than you ever could.

Trust.

Loyalty.

Honesty.

Respect.

Communication.

All these things,

we never had.

So,

because I love me,

I had to leave.

And don’t you dare

think it was easy,

for me to walk away.

I loved you.

I still care.

But in the end,

I had to do

what was best.

So this is a “Good-bye.”

Good-bye to the past.

Good-bye to the hurt.

This is a “Hello.”

Hello to the future.

Hello to healing.
