Because I Love You
The hearts of many have been stricken with love.
One in particular needs to be shined on.
Abusive love. Dysfunctional love. Misguided love.
Perverted love.
Why?
Because I Love You.
The first types of love comes innocently.
Family, friends, pets, music.
They are the rulers for the rest of our loving lives.
The next type of love is more exciting.
Fandoms, celebrities, crushes.
They are the first dabble into the rest of our loving lives.
The last kind of love is the beginning of the journey for a partner.
Puppy love, romantic love, unrequited love.
They are the standards we set for the rest of our loving lives.
The last kind of love makes one venerable.
It makes one want to put their best foot forward.
It makes one want to impress potential partners.
It makes one want to change for others,
And that is where it becomes potentially dangerous.
You see, the last kind of love means giving one's heart
To someone they have never given that type of love to.
They have no personal experience with boundaries for themselves or for the other,
They are willing to do for that partner what they wouldn't have done on their own.
They do not see the red flags of this love, only the red heart.
They see they are losing friends.
They see they are losing productivity.
They see they are changing.
But they know it is worth it.
Because those friends don't understand.
Because integrity can wait.
Because it's for them.
But they are wrong.
They are losing the right to be themselves,
Losing everything that made them unique.
The partner is always able to sway any doubts.
Why?
