Because I Love You
I usually don’t have feelings,
I usually don’t care.
But all of that changed when I put flowers in your hair.
I didn’t realize how much I loved that sweet smile,
I didn’t see how much you meant.
I realized it when I got your letter and one back to you I sent.
You make me remember who I am,
You remind me who I aim to be.
You love me just as the shore loves the sea.
You know my favorite movies,
You listen to my favorite songs.
You love me when I’m right and even more when I’m wrong.
Because you’ve given me happiness,
I want to give it right back.
I promise to keep your heart safe and away from attack.
I take the first step to make sure it’s safe,
I hold your hand in the rain.
You talk and make my heart race,
You ease my pain.
I’m your eye in the hurricane,
I’m your calm on a rough sea.
I love the way you look back at me.
I sing to you in the morning,
I sing to you at night.
You never fail to amaze me,
And keep me out of fright.
As long as the sky is blue,
And as long as one plus one is two,
For us I’d do anything.
Because I love you.
