Because I Love You

You are my best friend

Do you know that?

You live 1,284.4 miles away

and yet

Every comment you make fills me with joy

Every time we text the memories flood in

Every mediocre moment spent with you is exciting

You made cleaning the dishes into an explosion of bubbles and water and laughter

A fireworks show of joy

I love you

I sat on that plane

and I thought of you

I thought of you and I cried

That plane took me from my home of crazy soaring sky scrapers

back to a country of low lying lands

I cried on that plane

The sounds of a playlist we had crafted together filled my ears

and surrounded me with the memories

I love you

We raced up the stairs

2 small children

Sneaking out of the boring functions we were dragged to by our parents

We squeaked a door open

and out stretched the stage

an unsteady platform dangled above a 40 foot drop

Were we allowed up here?

We looked at each other and smiled

and that was when i knew

I love you

You mean safety

As Pennywise smiles up at us

you hug me close

As that platform shifted under our feet

you held my hand

When my entire world fell apart

you listened

You listened when everyone else talked

That day was the worst day of my life

and you were there

the chatter surrounded me and gave me an earth shattering headache

Ironic,

because the earth had alread shattered

But you

A blanket of quiet that knew exactly what not to say

I love you

You mean adventure

Those etchings we scratched into the walls of the Capital will never fade

The scar on my wrist will never fade

Thank god your mothers anger has faded

You are love

You are the definition of a healthy relationship

We have so many memories and each one makes me endlessly happy

Love is unpredictable

and yet stable

Indescribable

and yet all I want to do is talk about it

It makes you feel like you can soar

and yet pulls you to the ground

All you have ever brought to me is joy

And that is love

Love is simply

Joy
