"Because I Love You"

Because I love you, I tell you what you can and can’t do

Because I love you, I tell you what you can and can’t wear

Because I love you, I tell you who you can and can’t talk to

Because I love you, I own you

Because I love you, I get jealous

Because I love you, I get possessive

Because I love you, I get controlling

Because I love you, I own you

These words played in my head like a melody on repeat,

I was blinded by the words “because I love you”

Now that I found real love, I know what these words should truly mean

Because I love you, I support your dreams

Because I love you, I help you grow as an individual

Because I love you, I forgive you

Because I found you, I learned what true love is

Because I love you, I pick you up when your down

Because I love you, your problems became mine

Because I love you, I remind you of the extraordinary person you are

Because I found you, I no longer fear to love with a love that is more than love
