I pushed away all of my friends

I accepted back handed compliments as compliments
Because I loved you…
I lost my sense of self worth
Because I loved you…
I began to hate people for reasons I couldn’t understand
Because I loved you…
I learned that nothing I could do could change the bitterness in your heart
But now…
Because I LOVE you…
I feel like a princess
Because I love you…
I can spend a whole day with you and it’s still not enough
Because I love you…
I feel proud, of myself and of you
Because I love you…
I can say my opinions and unload my problems freely
Because I love you…
I am willing to give up my last piece of food
Because I love you…
I feel safe in your presence, not just physically but emotionally
Because I love you…
I can love wholeheartedly again
