Because I Love You

You littered my hair with leaves,
Persisting though I laughed and screamed
Covering my lips with kisses you
Reminded me of the first time we did this,
This,
What we mess up most of the time
The balance between love and hate that are intertwined
When you yell at me because I said I miss the way we used to be
You say, “we haven’t changed, have we?”
Yes,
We change just like the fingernails you forget to clip
Growing and learning, trying hard not to quit
I know that what we have is profound and true
I find deeper meaning in life because I love you.
