Because I Love You

Because I love you,

You should totally take that AP class,

You should try out for the school play that’s been on your mind all year

Even if it means we can’t spend much time together

I believe in your ability to do hard things

Because I love you,

I encourage your unique style

I don’t care if it makes us stand out.

Because I love you,

We should socialize with other guys and girls

We should learn to connect with and appreciate the rest of the world.

Because I love you,

I won’t keep you from your family.

I won’t isolate us from our friends

Because I love you,

I’ll never make you do anything you do not want to do.

Because I love you,

We need to be careful,

We must have self- control and respect each other's boundaries

Because I love you,

Let’s discuss solutions rather than react to problems

Let’s trust each other's use of social media

Let’s encourage each other to live honorably

Because I love you

I’ll drive the speed limit

Because I love you,

I’ll put the phone away

Because I love you,

I value your emotional, physical, and mental well- being

I know that we can achieve this without complete dependence on each other

I’ll put my education and growth as person first

I’ll put my individual well-being first

And help you do the same
