Because I Love You
Because I love you,
Because I love you I saw more for you than I did for myself
I let go of my success and marked the path for your access.
To fly above all obstacles with me as your wings
Because I love you, I lost all of me
Because I love you,
Because I love you I put you first
Unaware that I was still hurting the most
Frequently trying to ignore the fact
“Because I love you,” meant more than that.
Because I love you,
Because I love you meant I needed you there
To comfort my pain in the midst of my despair
I relied on you to come and relinquish
Because I love you, I began to diminish.
Because I loved you,
Because I loved you I have since opened my eyes
To the entrapment that was hidden in your disguise
Manipulating a heart for your personal gain,
Because I loved you, I now know the game.
Because I loved you,
Because I loved you I now love me.
I recognized I was the one to set myself free
The wings I needed to carry me
Because I loved you, I can now love me.
