Because I Love You
Because of you I am here and alive
I carry you and your love within my veins
Looking up to you my father at the age of five
Now 25 and seeing you now, my life just rains
You held my hand when I was afraid and told me be bold,
Those same hands made me the person I am today.
Now I sit next to you holding those once strong hands from being cold,
How I wish that pain you have I could somehow take away.
It breaks my heart seeing how much you changed
Deep down I know that isn’t you my father
“Because I love you” the few words exchanged
I beg not to leave us be strong for your daughter
Please don’t go because they and I love you.
Now to the present, it is my turn to pick you up
Wipe those tears of agony and exhaustion.
Wiping your lips every time you throw up
Every kiss and hug I give you I must do it with caution
It is unfair of how soon you have aged at 45
I hate that what is in you went undetected for so long
You have to hold my hand again be strong and alive
We both have many years to go father you are young.
Don’t leave without walking me down the aisle
Let me hear you laugh again and see you smile.
My father all I want back is the old you
Want to see those wires out of you
We are one, I am you and you are me
Because I love you don’t stop loving me.
