"I love you"

He says to me.

Those powerful words that are supposed to fix

But how can those words unscramble the mix,

The mix of emotions I'm now going through

And how he smugly awaits an, "I forgive you".

But words can sting,

And actions can break

But what he did, I just cannot shake.

Because for eleven months he was all I wanted

But alas he broke me when he was taunted.

I sat through the cheating, disrespect, and lies,

Not realizing that the "love" slowly began disappearing from his eyes.

This boy disguising himself as a man,

Was just a toxic being who extended out his hand. 

"You're all I want"

"You're all I need"

Little did I know it was all said with greed.

For my impression of love was tainted immensely,

And unfortunately my heart was beaten intensely.

But love was not something he could simply give to me,

Because love isn't expressed by what you can see. 

Despite the gifts and flattering names,

I was blinded and caught playing his games.

Stuck in a loop,

A circle of hate

Chance after chance, stuck in a tormenting state.

For love isn't something seen by the eye,

And love for sure doesn't continuously lie.

It was afterwards that I began to see love that was true,

From friends and family who consistently helped to,

Fade my scars and mend back my heart

Trying to fix up the girl who had been falling apart. 

A healthy relationship is difficult to find,

But for many they're there, but we are just blind.

The love of a mother, father, sister or brother,

Is stronger than a love found from any other. 

A love unconditional, real and kind,

One who always had your best intentions in mind.

Though sometimes others have the ability to love too,

People who are always genuine, honest, and true.

One whose intentions are always pure,

And never someone whose feelings are unsure.

Someone who chooses you above all,

No matter the circumstance, big or small.

As famously stated, love is patient, love is kind,

And with true love, your well-being is always on their mind.

Because love doesn't care about your clothes or your hair,

Or when you snort in public and people start to stare.

"I love you" isn't just some weapon or excuse,

However in today's society it's used too loose.

"I love you" is something that takes time to build,

And until l know, then I remain still.

As more people will soon come and go

It's just a matter of time til I finally know.

There will will be times that I'm unsure and scared,

For love is somethings in which no one is prepared.

But eventually someone will make my heart race

And only then will I have to face

That someone equally has feelings to share

Instead of unfaithful actions with the power to tear,

A soul

A being

A girl

A heart

Things that haven't been the same since the very start.

But despite my past I now must grow

And when I feel that warmth back inside, then I'll know.

Because I love you I'll wait to tell,

Because I love you I'll know you well,

Because I love you it's true to see,

I'll find you and love you, as you will to me.
