Because I love you...

Because I love you I put your problems above mine.

I always try and make sure you're fine.

I yell until I'm blue in the face just to make sure you're okay,

With you always looking at me with nothing to say.

Because you love me you make me know I'm wanted,

You make sure our hearts are bonded.

You keep me hidden and out of sight,

But always make sure I'm alright.

But because I love you I didn’t know you were controlling me.

The rot and ruin that I could not see.

I work to please you in every way I can,

But in the end, I'm left holding my own hand.

For I confused love with lust

And control with trust.

I let you sit there and break me,

Until love was something I could no longer see.

Because I love you I now know why,

Love is hidden behind our lies.

Because you love me I can see

Being in love in something we will never be.
