Because I love you

Because I love you

I can disagree with you and you can disagree with me, and it’s completely okay.

Because I love you

I can set aside the discomfort of your ice cold feet on my legs when we are in bed, and help you to warm them up.

Because I love you

I can let you in during times of insecurity, overwhelm, and vexation, knowing you’ll respond with encouragement and support.

Because I love you

I can still be me and let you be you, just as we are, outside of our relationship identities.

Because I love you

I can be comfortable with the friendship you and she have, because I know you won’t betray my trust.

Because I love you

I can have tough conversations with you and come out on the other side feeling like we are even closer.

Because I love you

I can give you the space to feel stressed, upset, and angry, and not take your frustration personally.

Because I love you

I can belch loudly and snort with laughter and ugly cry in your presence, knowing you’ll meet my weirdness with understanding and love.

Because I love you

I can forgive you for your mistakes and remember that you’re just doing the best you can.

Because you love me

You are soft and kind and warm. And because you love me, you are able to do all of these things too.
