Because I Love You
Because I love you, I want to shout so loud
That Gaea wakes from her slumber wondering
Who the fuck could be so loud?
Because I love you, I will buy you a stuffed fox
Because I know that you had a rough day at work
And foxes are your favorite animal.
Because I love you, I will kiss you
Until you were red in the face
But would stop as soon as you said to stop
Because the world doesn’t need any more Donald Trumps.
Because I love you, I will hold you so tight
So that you could never leave
Unless you wanted to leave
In which case, I’d swallow my pride.
Because I love you, I will watch the apartment
While you go out with friends
Since Wednesday is your night.
Because I love you, I will never leave your side
Unless you need space and time to think.
I would stay away just long enough to bake you cookies
To make the thoughts come just that more sweetly.
Because I love you, I will be your champion when you need one
I will be your rock.
I will be your friend.
I will be your clown.
I will treat you with respect and tenacious loyalty
Because I truly love you.
