I write this because I love you

I write this to tell you that those words aren't always true

These words can be used to justify acts of hate

Malice, and cruelty

These words can be used to create guilt

And a false sense of safety

And That's not love

They should leave you feeling supported and secured

Not dismal and fearful

They should be filled with affection and respect

Not with rage and animosity

These words should actually make you feel loved

And if they don't

Then it's not love
