Because I Love You,
Many crave to be invested in a relationship so deep
that it is their only means of existence
Some people call that love
I call it loneliness
Love is warmth on a cold winter morning
When I put on several layers of sweaters
Not to impress anyone
But to make sure I don’t get cold in this weather
Love is a hot cup of coffee when I am tired
I have been up for hours
Sleep is all I desire
Yet, it is out of my power
But I need to make sure I am not unwired
As soon as I understood who I was
As soon as I cared for myself deeply
As soon as I replaced the fragile glass around my self-worth with diamond
I found you
You who makes sure I am warm on a cold winter morning
You who makes me a hot cup of coffee when I need it most
You who builds me up rather than tear me down
You who care for me as I care deeply for myself
Because I love you,
I learned to love myself first
