Because I Love You

I love you would always come after
hugs, goodbye's, hello's, and phone calls.

I love you was something we said so often it was practically engraved in our minds.
I love you was what connected in in a bond that we didn't share with others.
I love you was everything to us.

Until it wasn't.

I love you began to lose its meaning when it fell from my lips-
whether it changed from yours is something I will always ask myself.

I love you came after long conversations and hopeful goodbye's.
I love you came after you realized how cruel you had been.
I love you came after you would finally remember I had been there after waiting for so long.

I love you began to fade from our minds like a distant memory that we now quesitoned if it had even existed.

I love you turned from something happy to wanting.

And because I love you,

I made sure the last time would never happen again.
