"Because I love you..."
“Because I love you…”
I tell you when you are wrong
I do not pour sugar on your wounds
while allowing you to bleed out,
simply because it makes you feel better.
I make sure you eat
Because I know that there is no “IG body”
worth tearing apart your temple
to replace it with a celebrity style mansion.
I watch movie marathons
Until my eyes force themselves close.
I would never let you mourn your breakup
with the third “love of your life” alone.
I remind you who you are:
Capable, beautiful, talented, adventurous
A gifted mind, a complex spirit, a luminous soul,
a force capable of stopping a hurricane with your smile
Because I love you,
I know the difference between
saying words and meaning them.
Because I love me,
I make sure you do too.
