Because I Love You

I embrace you tight enough to take your breath away and feed the electricity coursing through your veins, still never harsh enough to leave bruises in your heart or purple taints on your arms—you have been worn down by force and anger, but I am careful and delicate Because I love you;

You are a marigold at bloom, your colors camouflage your wilt but with sufficient water, sunlight, and time, your gold will outshine the constellations in the night sky— you are learning to love again, and I am patient  Because I love you;

The patter of raindrops on the window do not causeyou tremble nor does the rumble of thunder shake your soul out of your body—you are beginning to feel serene again, and I cross my heart to not hurt you;

I keep this promise Because I love you.
