Because I Love You

Because I Love You

I wake up next to you every day

Press my nose between your shoulder blades

Kiss your warm flesh and breathe you in

Because I love you

I cook your meals and make coffee

Grocery lists, laundry and doctor appointments

I take care of the little things all day long

Because I love you

I don't go through your phone

Your journals are your own until you decide to share with me

Social media is mine to view from the outside

Because I love you

Your relationships which were unhealthy

Lie crumpled in the trash

Because I helped you see you were worth so much more

Because I love you

I bathe our son and do his hair to match yours

And dress him the way that I dress you

I foster his relationship with you

Because I love you

I write you “To-do” lists and leave you reminders

I get frustrated when you fail me

I get upset when you let down the family

Because I love you

I scrub blood from your shirts after you fight

I pour whiskey down the drain

I hang up on your father

Because I love you

I plan date nights so I can wrap myself in you

Dinner, so that I may feed and nourish you

Pamper you so that you are smooth and perfect

Because I love you

I live on, ignoring my pain and depression

I take my pills and see my therapist

I journal and process for you, my angel

Because I love you
