Because I Love You...
Because I love you
I let my guard down.
I became an innocent,
When I had trained myself to guard my heart.
Because I love you,
I believed you when you told me
you would feel empty without me.
I fell for you,
just as fast as a droplet of rain during a sunny day.
When you told me you'd never find anyone like me,
I believed you.
Because I love you.
Because I love you,
I protect you at all cost,
I defend your name,
I defend what we were.
Because I love you,
I check up on you,
See how you're doing,
See who you've gotten together with.
Because I love you,
I remember the strands of your hair
When I would brush my fingers through it
Even if you hated it.
Because I love you
I remember our first date,
I remember how sandals beat Nikes,
But because I love you
I told you the Nikes beat Sandals.
Because I love you,
Dropping fries seems as if it's a sin,
A reminder of a love once great.
Most important,
Because I love you,
I had to set you free,
Let our memories fade into my heart,
Let tears to be purified,
Let you be able to smile again,
I had to let our love fade away,
All because I love you.
