Because I love you
Because I love you
Oh those wicked words
That drained me of life
As I confined to your molds
Because I love you
Shouted in pleading cries
As you taught me to confuse
Your love with your lies
Because I love you
Became an infallible line
That justified all the bruises
On a body that was mine
Because I love you
Almost made me lose hope
That happiness could be found
Outside of love’s rope
Because I love you
Should’ve been seen in your smile
As you made me dream of a future
With us leading the aisle
Because I love you
Should’ve been felt in your embrace
When the problems of the world
Caught up in life’s chase
Because I love you
Should’ve been heard at the time
When you made all those sacrifices
To remain mine
Because I love you
Should’ve taught the kids how to trust
That there was something beautiful
Past the heartbreaks of lust
Because I love you
Should’ve been the words that set me free
Until I realized on my own
Where I wanted to be
Because I love you
Left me trapped in the fear
That trusting someone new
Would just leave me with tears
Because I love you
Almost kept me in your chain
Until tears and blind courage
Helped me run from the pain
