I understood when you got upset.

When you got frustrated to the point of tears.

You didn’t think you could do it,

But you got there little bear.

I always knew you could do it,

I believed in you.

My heart hurt when you cried.

Your eyes watering from the terrible news of

“Daddy can’t see you until later.”

I knew you understood what that meant.

I knew it broke your heart, so it broke mine as well.

I held you as you cried.

You hated having to clean your room.

I knew that because I always pushed you to clean it.

I wanted you to have the things you wanted.

But because I Love You,

I let myself be the bad guy.

I remember the day the boy spat at you.

It was at football practice.

I was angry and ready to be at your defense.

All because you were so upset,

And I love you.

I have watched you grow up,

And you have become so good.

I tear up at the thought of leaving you

For you have made me so proud.
