Because I Love You

Because I love you,

A phrase like a double-edged sword

With both positive and negative rewards

Some use it to express endearment

Others neglect and abuse it

Because I love you,

Should not be followed with a command

The phrase should not be a demand

It should be used to encourage and support

It should not be used to thwart

Because I love you,

Should be used when someone is down

To turn their frown upside down

Whether saying it to a friend or soul mate

It should be used to motivate

Because I love you,

I will be honest with you

I will stay by your side through and through

I will show you respect

I will be there for you and protect

Because I love you,

Should not be a threat

Or be used to upset

Instead it should show what I will do

To make this relationship better for me and you
