Because I Love You

When you love something, you protect it,

You don't punish it, you don't threaten it,

You show it care, you put it first,

But with four words, you start to hurt,

You're under control, you have no space,

A hole forms in your heart, which you can't replace,

You're suddenly trapped, there's no trust,

You try and leave but you know you're stuck,

You know it's not right, but you can't get out,

It feels like no one can see you struggle, scream or shout,

'Why should I stay' you ask as you cry,

'Because I love you' is the only reason why,

The manipulation and heartbreak holds you back,

Someone should help you grow, instead of choosing your track.

You should feel special and loved in every way,

You should only be with someone if you feel like that everyday,

If you give them the power, then all you do is stay,

But you have strength even if it seemed like it was taken away,

Love is supposed to rise above,

So you shouldn't be with with someone who makes you feel like you're hard to love.
