Because I Love You

When I think I should lie or keep a secret that is when I know what shames me is something I need to tell you.

Honesty is trust and trust is Love;

A stable place to rest our weary heads

when the chaos and instability of life as a mere mortal rears its head.

Love is not ugly or hard or torturous,

Love is soft and scary and wonderful!

Love may be frustrating and Love may be tough,

But Love knows how to say “sorry” from the heart.

Love does not brandish swords, nor does it breathe fire,

It does not glower or silently move you to sadness.

It does not hurt.

Love may get defensive and Love may seem rough,

But Love is letting our walls down and learning that beyond the wall is an endless horizon

of sunsets and rises.

A vast expanse of sky blooms where you can run and fly

because Love allows you to retain individuality

while never being alone.

Love is partnership, is support, is magic.

Love is the feeling of sweeping orchestral scores and watercolors bleeding.

No nails on a chalkboard, no thud of a brick-

Love is light as a feather and deep as the sea, ebbing and flowing and floating and leaping and sinking and rising and

Stopping time…

Love is a bee returned to its hive.

Love is hiding between old bookshelves

For fun and for games,

not for fear or for protection.

Because I love you, I am already bare.

I lay out my soul and you lay out yours, and the only wall built is the one we will build around each other’s hearts

-a protective embrace.

There is no fear,

Because I love you.
