"Because I love you."

cold hands

just like your heart

you said the marks on my skin

were supposed to be art

I asked you why you did it

what did I do?

you always said to me,

"Because I love you."

one day

I stood before my mirror

and for the first time ever

I felt like I could see her

I said to that girl

pack your bags and start new

go take care of yourself

because I love you

then he came along

and he took care of me

he showed me happiness

and what love could truly be

I asked him why

do you do the things you do?

and he said those words

"Because I love you."
