"Because I Love You"

A healthy relationship is a beating heart

For I have found my missing part

He listens to all words of trouble, of woe

Never turning against me, never becoming the foe

“I love you” he tells me every day and night

His time and attention, for which I never have to fight

In years gone by, my sense of love was dismal and amiss

A damaged girl like me could never know love’s bliss

With him, I never feel as if a part of me is dying

As with others in past, so hard I was trying

To impress them and find some sort of love

That I never had for myself, or for the things of

This word, other than him

Yet, he encourages me to pursue my dreams, to step out a limb

And reach for the stars, yet he helps to keep my feet on the ground,

To remember that no matter what, he will always be around

With a smile on my face,

I can know that I’ve finally found my place, (with him)
