Because I Love You

Because I love you, I want us to talk

In each other I want us to trust.

I can keep all of your secrets

Under lock and key

As long as you can promise

To be true to only me.

And though the world is cruel

And sometimes quite unfair

I will always be there

To be your teddy bear.

Communication is the key

To really anything

As long as you can keep it civil

And not be mean to me.

Expensive dates and really nice gifts

And everything in between

Honestly they don’t matter

Because you mean so much to me.

Of course I have been hurt before,

But you probably have been too.

It’ll probably be a struggle,

At least only just at first

To love and trust and show affection

When all we’ve known is hurt.

But if the love that we share

Is oh, so very true

Then I’d probably go to hell and back

Just because I love you.
