Because I Love You

All I need

Before this week is over,

Before this year passes by

Desaturated, forgotten,

Is your breath, your air

Surrounding me

Becoming my only atmosphere,

Your silken hair flooding the spaces

Between my fingers,

Prone against my knuckles

Shimmering in the morning sunlight

Your arms around me,

Protecting me from the harshness

That reality has set me to face

That it has set you to face

The reality that gave me you

Is sometimes so powerful

So menacing yet so insightful

That I forget your presence, your beauty

Your astounding capability

To bring me into the sun,

To plant me feet first back

Into the soil

I need you

To remind me of your strength

To save me

I need to save you

To bring you with me

Into that sweet luminescence

Of meaning something

Of being someone’s everything

Because I love you
