Because I Love You

Because I love you

Mom has told me over and over again

Not just when things were good

But also when I was experiencing pain.

I heard those words as Mom held me down

As I screamed in pain as doctors prodded my skin

Because she loved me she could not break down.

Because she loves me, Mom has held my hand

Through my ups and downs of teenage angst

Mom has been my rock, never my quicksand

Love is what I have felt for the past 17 years

Mom playing a role of both mom and dad

Strict, yet compassionate without any fears.

Relationships based on trust and communication

Is what I learned from my Mom

It is what its most important in life, a solid foundation.
