Because I Love You

He stands among 

the  tallest trees 

The moon glistens

Highlighting his face     

Wind caresses his soft skin. 

It’s cold outside.

But he doesn’t care.   

the trees are coated     

In soft, sparkly snow.  

Flakes of glittering white,   

falling in a sultry dance   

gently landing on his slight rosy cheeks,   

Stinging is full lips

Melting on his tongue,   

He takes one breath

and all is well in his world.

The yellow-orange sky peeking through the blinds

Gently, i’ll kiss your cheek

Lean in and whisper good morning my love 

onto your shut slumbered eyes 

You greet me with your perfect smile 

leave me breathless as I take in your perfection.

Your smile is a reminder of

why my mornings are brighter 

why it feels great to be alive

Why I no longer have to fear anything. 

With you, I am complete.

So I cherish this moment, every day.

My thoughts turn to you 

Then to us

And I remember

our first conversation

how you gave me your heart

While butterflies fluttered inside of me 

I look at you and smile

and I know that

Slow or fast,

My heart beats in anticipation of you
