Because I Love You...

Because I love you,

because you love me,

we can hold each other close

and speak respectively.

You can collect the tears I cry

and put them in a jar,

so when my world is set aflame,

there to extinguish it, you are.

When you need a shoulder lent,

or a hug when you’re feeling blue,

I’ll be there to give myself

and all of my empathy to you.

But sometimes people forget this,

and don’t collect your tears.

Instead, they just break the jar,

releasing all of your fears.

They say they love you to get inside

of your mind to break you down.

They want to drain away your voice

so that you will never make a sound.

But he said that he loved me.

He said I could stay for good.

My friend said she would love me forever.

She said she really would.

Love is a fire,

burning bright until put out.

If too much love overwhelms you,

that leads to a emotionless drought.

But if the fire is extinguished too early,

love never had a chance.

Whether it be a family member or a lover,

A friendship or romance.

Love is the one with the jar of tears,

the one who understands the fire,

the one with respect, honesty, and compassion,

not selfishness and lustful desire.

Because I love you,

I want to see you grow strong.

I want to see you singing at the top of your lungs

to your favorite song.

Because I love you,

don’t cry, I’m on my way.

I hope you did well on that test.

Hey, how was your day?

Because I love you,

I’ll be right here when you wake up.

I’ll bring enough light into your day,

so it’s always half full in your cup.

I want to see you smile and laugh.

Enjoy everything you do.

I want to see you happy and living fully,

because I love you.
