Because I love you...
Because I love you,
I'll take you to work, to school
Because I love you,
I'll watch your phone as it rings, checking the caller ID
Because I love you,
I'll push you to the ground
Because I love you,
I'll apologize,
Swearing it will never happen again
Because I love you,
I'll buy you nice things
Because I love you,
I'll never let you go
But
One day,
It's not because I love you
One day,
It's never been because I love you
One day,
You meet someone new,
Amazing
And yet
One day,
You flinch away,
Not ready for the love you have received in the past
One day,
You cry over receiving an ice cream cone,
You think about the beatings you've received as payment
One day,
You take your phone to the bathroom,
You think about the mistake all day
And one day,
They hug you,
They let you cry
They tell you it will all be alright
And somehow you know
It's because they love you
