Because I Love You, i will learn to love you right

Look in the mirror and who do I see

A silly girl staring back at me

No job, No degree

Just a silly girl staring back at me.

Fix your hair

and maybe fix your crooked teeth

Honey, go get yourself some tea

you look stressed

you look tired

Baby, that’s not a good look on thee

Silly girl staring back at me.

But that is not okay.

Deminishing yourself is cruel!

You are beautiful,

you are kind,

you are smart

and oh so divine

Child why do you treat yourself this way?

Love, don't act this way

Because i love you i will work towards loving you.

Because i love you i will fight for you.

Because i love you, i will learn to love you right.

This poem describes the unhealthy relationship I had with myself. The image I had of myself was self-scrutinizing and cruel. Over time I learned- and am still learning- how to form a healthy, loving relationship with myself. Perfection does not exits. There is no guide to life. However, there is love in this world, and the most important type of love is self-love.
