"Because I Love You" Mom

Once Upon A Time

In the home in which I grew

My parents wouldn't let me out of the house

With a simple, "Because I Love You".

Knowing it was in good heart,

I took it as I should,

and waited 'till the day,

that I'd decide my way.

Once Upon a High School Sweetheart,

I was offered a chance to travel,

my lover felt squandered.

He demanded I stay,

When I questioned his ways,

he reiterated, "Because I Love You".

It felt so conflicting,

this predicament estranged,

from my parent's good heart,

the phrase collided these two parts,

and so I stayed.

Once Upon A University,

I found myself a city boy,

he dressed me up in rose-colored glasses,

and helped me build my new mind.

Upon revealing my past,

he noticed not a bruise on any poor choice,

and thought to correct that fact.

My now imperfections,

engulfed my complexion,

I did not wonder why,

for as I whispered goodbye,

he uttered, "Because I Love You."

Once Upon A Holiday,

I visited my family,

I could not say,

much for my own thoughts,

or anything on own actions.

and all I could feel,

when my mom asked whats wrong,

was voiceless.

 I couldn't bring myself,

to break her good heart,

and all I could portray was,

"Because I Love You."
