"Because I Love You" Scholarship Slam

I had never known love until I’d felt yours.

Maybe it's because you can sense my slightest shiver in the brisk, autumn air.

Maybe it's because you subconsciously smile when you listen to me talk.

Maybe it's because you refuse to let your hectic schedule impact our relationship.

Maybe it's because we transitioned from best friends to lovers to soulmates.

Maybe it's because you can turn my pumpkin and mouse into my horse and carriage.

Maybe it's because I trust you with the weight of my heart.

Maybe it’s because you put honesty before pride.

Maybe it’s because you’re all of the beautiful things that the world isn't to me.

Maybe it's because you revealed your scars.

Maybe it's because you accept my flaws with no complaint.

Maybe it’s because I love you.
