Because I loved you

I left when you stopped smiling.

When your frown was more permanent than your smile lines.

Your hand was limp in mine

and I knew that a false love would not be enough to bring life back into your heart, into our love.

When your eyes wandered,

I was not sad.

Because I loved you.

I left.
