Because I loved you.

I find myself in wonder, is it strange,

Do you realize the stare I cannot hold?

There is no doubt that there has been a change.

My eyes, no longer can they act so bold,

Wandering from your iridescent gaze.

The pleasure once found in a seldom view

Of your portrait, has become a grey haze

Knowing this mishap will end in a rue.

To shy away from your icy deceit

Will not lessen the scold of this neglect.

Hanging my head, I have met loves defeat

As when winter comes for a leaf insect.

When I stray from love, do not think it shrew.

Just know that it is because I loved you.
