Because I Loved You

 love is a strong thing-

It can make us throw everything away

even break our own rules

change ourselves - not always for the best

Destroy our minds

for who we are and were

Forget warnings, signs, lessons

Miss the mistakes

and hurt ourselves daily

But we would do it all again

Just Because.

It's not easy to look in a mirror

and not see yourself.

It's not easy to know I'm not like I used to be

though I was never perfect

But sometimes love changes you for the worst

But you learn to fight

to bring back what you used to be and

Learning to love myself

was the first step

To fight a little more for myself

And to know

The first step in loving you

should have been loving myself

loving you changed me for the better

Though it hurt

I wouldn't change what I learned
