Because I Said So
You begin to walk, you begin to listen
Every step is a chance to glisten
As you learn they explain these rules
“Why must I follow these rules”, asked the fool
With delight the answer drew
“Because I said so! No more query!
You will know when you are ready!”
This is how the youth is raised
To follow others and to praise
We want leaders yet we beat them into followers
But that is the least of all your troubles
Follow along the path of discipline
Only then will they reminiscent
Of the youngsters you raised so well
Yet they struggle to understand
Why the must follow down this path
They ask again, “Why oh why must I obliged?”
“Because I said so!”, was the reply
Piece by piece they are destroyed
Into followers they conjoined
Pressured by their peers
They dropped school and hoped for the best
Leaders they could be
But leaders know the ‘why’
Where as they are lost at sea
A sea their elders had built
‘Because I said so’ was their will
Greatness slammed to weakness
Because they feared they would raise hooligans
Now their elders face them so
Asking why they changed and became so low
“I do what I want”, was their respond
Filled with torment they asked, “why”
“Because I said so”, was their reply
