Because it was for the best
Because I love you, I let you walk away.
From us, our future, and everything in between.
We were far from perfect, almost toxic.
Scratch that, we were perfectly toxic.
I love you but how do you stay, after years of the same old thing?
Because I love you, I let you go.
Into heartbreak and other arms, that couldn't hold you like me.
After nine months and a variety of lips,
I can't find anything like you.
I wish that wasn't such a good thing, because I miss you.
But we are toxic and know better than to go back to the same old.
We ended because it was for the best.
Now we watch from a distance and wish each other, what we couldn't provide.
Because that's what's the best for us right now.
I'm held by a stronger pair of arms and kissed my softer lips.
I'm loved by a pure kind of love, and I hope you soon do too.
I'm still what's best for you, but you're no longer the best for me.
I was the greatest to enter your life and you let that go.
Now I realize everything happens for a reason.
I know you let me go because it was for the best for me.
