Because of my Mother

Rewind 10 years

I’m 7

I know I’m going to have a baby sister

But don’t know I may lose a mother

I knew my mom was sick

But I did not understand

She put on a brave face

Why did mom shave her head?

Why is mom gone so much?

The baby is home

But why is mom still at the hospital?

Fastforward

I am blessed

I am thankful

My mom is healthy

But am I?

Could that be my future?

Hoping, praying, wishing it is not

Will I have to fight for not only one life

But for 5 like my mom?

I am scared

But I am brave

I remember the face my mom put on

I am inspired

All because of my mother
