Because of my Skin

Because of my skin I am hated.

Because of my skin I am judged.

Because of my skin I am feared,

and no one knows what I'm made of.

Because of my skin I show kindness.

Because of my skin I show smarts.

Because of my skin I'm not blinded,

by what I feel in my heart.

Because of my skin I show courage,

and speak up for what I feel is right.

Because of my skin I am hopeful,

for when day is equal to night.
